30sq meters

I’ve moved quite a few times… my destination is Athens; my home now is a 30-square-meter studio apartment, two suitcases, a fresh start. Adjusting to the pace of the big city is still difficult. When “outside” doesn’t work, I shut myself in. In a world where sometimes I fit in and other times I don’t. A photograph capable of saving me or intensifying my agitation. The kitchen is dimly lit. The flowers from the farmers’ market are never in vases. The glass of water, my lunch, and an ashtray full of cigarette butts are usually scattered haphazardly next to or in front of me. Just like my thoughts, at times. My camera and the lyrics of my favorite songs playing on the radio are my only companions.

Here, in the “30τμ” project by Giorgos Kylpasis, a daydreamer and photographer, we have images captured within the framework of a unique surrealism. The way they are exhibited—aside from being framed in different-sized frames—includes a sound installation featuring the lyrics associated with each image.

A total of 36 photographs.

The exhibition will also feature a companion album of the same title, containing additional images from Giorgos’s work.

Giorgos Kylpasis was born in 1980 and is a graduate of the Technological Educational Institute of Epirus, Department of Tourism Management. He lived in Patras, and in recent years has been living and working in Athens. His involvement with photography began in 2015, when he started taking photos on his own and experimentally, focusing on neighborhoods and landmarks in the city where he grew up. For several years, he was a member of the amateur photography group “Polymorfo,” and has participated in group and solo exhibitions in Patras and Athens, and in June 2020, one of his photographs was “featured” on the walls of the International Center of Photography in New York, alongside works by artists from around the world on the theme of the COVID-19 pandemic. He participated in the Queercon festival (September 2025) and, prior to that, in Art Ikaria (August 2025). Giorgos studied under Christos Sotiropoulos and was also a member of various photography groups in Athens.

Οι μετακομίσεις αρκετές... με προορισμό την Αθήνα, βάση μου πια μια γκαρσονιέρα 30τ.μ, 2 βαλίτσες, νέα αρχή. Η προσαρμογή στους ρυθμούς της μεγαλούπολης ακόμη δύσκολη. Όταν το "έξω" δεν λειτουργεί, κλείνομαι μέσα. Σε ένα κόσμο όπου πότε χωράω και άλλοτε όχι. Μια φωτογραφία ικανή να σώσει ή να διογκώσει τον παροξυσμό μου. Η κουζίνα φωτίζει αμυδρά. Τα λουλούδια από την λαϊκή, ποτέ δεν είναι στα βάζα. Το ποτήρι με το νερό, το μεσημεριανό φαγητό, ένα τασάκι γεμάτο αποτσίγαρα, βρίσκονται συνήθως ακατάστατα δίπλα ή μπροστά μου. 'Όπως και σκέψεις μου ώρες και φορές. Η φωτογραφική μηχανή και στίχοι αγαπημένων κομματιών να παίζουν στο ραδιόφωνο είναι η μόνη συντροφιά.

Εδώ στο project 30τμ του Γιώργου Κυλπάση , daydreamer φωτογράφο, έχουμε εικόνες τραβηγμένες στα πλαίσια ενός μοναδικού υπερρεαλισμού. Ο τρόπος έκθεσης τους , εκτός από το καδράρισμα τους σε διαφορετικά μεγέθους πλαίσια, είναι και η προβολή τους με ήχο, ο οποίος θα περικλείει τα στιχάκια τα οποία συνδέονται με την κάθε εικόνα.

Στην έκθεση θα υπάρχει και σχετικό ομότιτλο λεύκωμα με περισσότερες εικόνες από το έργο του Γιώργου.

Ο Γιώργος Κυλπάσης γεννήθηκε το 1980 , απόφοιτος του ΑΤΕΙ Ηπείρου, στο τμήμα Τουριστικών Επιχειρήσεων. Έζησε στην Πάτρα, ενώ τα τελευταία χρόνια ζει και εργάζεται στην Αθήνα. Η ενασχόληση του με την φωτογραφία ξεκίνησε το 2015 , φωτογραφίζοντας αυτοδίδακτος και πειραματικά, γειτονιές και σημεία της πόλης που μεγάλωσε. Υπήρξε για αρκετά χρόνια μέλος της φωτογραφικής ερασιτεχνικής ομάδας Πολύμορφο, έχει συμμετάσχει σε ομαδικές και ατομικές εκθέσεις σε Πάτρα και Αθήνα, ενώ τον Ιούνιο του 2020 μια φωτογραφία του "φιλοξενείται" στους τοίχους του International Center of Photographyτης Νέας Υόρκης, ανάμεσα σε καλλιτέχνες από όλο τον κόσμο με θέμα την πανδημία Covid 19. Συμμετείχε στο Queercon festival (9/2025) και πρωτύτερα στο Art Ikaria (8/2025). Ο Γιώργος μαθήτευσε με τον Χρήστο Σωτηρόπουλο, καθώς υπήρξε και μέλος σε διάφορες φωτογραφικές ομάδες της Αθήνας.
