the girl

the girl
my story will never tell
nobody will never hear
trying to understand what is
more and what is less
my absolute fortune
doesn't change a bit
whenever I try to
manage the obstacle
of life your memories try
to be more sense
than yours
expecting ideals to change
in every way
manage to climb at
your stories
they went
Among the earliest images of my childhood are those of white men’s underpants drying on a washing line, symbolizing the patriarchal family, my dad, my uncle, the neighbor. Our lives are confined by their decisions, expressed through shouting and physical violence against countless bodies, powerless to react to their sadism.
We passively accept that this is just the way it is… No, no, it isn’t like that.
You can’t paint or play volleyball… One day you’ll have to wear those white shorts and their sweat-soaked shirts too, to become just like them: because that’s how men are. They don’t care if you’re okay. Society has to be okay with your choices. Pink isn’t a colour for boys; Barbie’s your sister’s; put her down… go run to the square to play football.
Tomorrow or the day after, you’ll get married… Have children, tell them the same things… The smoke in the room has reached the ceiling. The shirt is yellower than ever. Their phallic forms appear at the edge of the underpants. You cannot escape their obsession. Perhaps you’ll turn pink; perhaps your dreams bear the signature and responsibility of a new, colourful light – no longer black.
The exhibition is taking place as part of the 4th ATHENS ANALOGUE PHOTOGRAPHY FESTIVAL (30 September 2026 – 11 October 2026), which will draw to a close on Sunday 11 October at the o.art.ath gallery. This welcoming venue will host the now-traditional closing event, where we look forward to welcoming you all. It is a day of celebration and love, not only for analogue photography but also for the people behind it.
